Before the days of the Barber Motorsports Track, a guy named George saw a need and desire to create a museum that highlighted motorcycle history on a global scale. While this might not be considered a ride or rally, it is a sight to behold for anyone that rides.

Back in 1998, the Barber Motorsports Museum sprang to life. As an owner of a sweet collection of sportscars, George took a shine to motorcycles. To help preserve history, he created the collection with Motorcycles that until then could only be found in magazines.

Nestled in beautiful Birmingham, Alabama, the Barber Motorsports Track and museum is the place to see some awesome vintage bikes. This is where some of the best Motorcycles in the world call home.

These folks not only show these bikes, but ride them as well! You can see over 1200 vintage and modern Motorcycles at the museum. This very well could be one of the largest collections in the world. There are motorcycles from around 200 manufacturers and 20 countries to be viewed.

Some of the Motorcycles in the collection were featured in the Art of the Motorcycle show in New York, as well as the Field Museum in Chicago. Now that's recognition! The museum was originally on the southside of Birmingham, but later moved to the Barber Motorsports Track in 2003.

The museum is actually located at the Barber Motorsports Track. This makes it convenient to see both! It is just east of Downtown Birmingham near I-20.

It is fairly inexpensive at only $15 for Adults and $10 for kids. It's open from 10am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday and from Noon to 5pm on Sunday. Be sure you don't take any pets, because unfortunately, they are not allowed.  If you need them, both showers and restrooms are available at Barber Motorsports Track

The Barber Motorsports Track itself has an interesting history. From Sports Car, and Porsche races, to Superbikes and even Indycars, there have been many notable races held at Barber Motorsports Track over the years. Barber Motorsports Track boasts 17 flowing curves at over 80 foot of elevation change. It is almost 2 and a half miles long and about 45 feet wide. Some of the records at Barber Motorsports Track include a time of 1:09:455 with an average speed of almost 120 miles per hour for a car, and the Motorcycle record is 1:23:644 with a speed of just over 115 miles per hour.
