Junebug Boogie

The Junebug Boogie motorcycle rally is held twice a year near Waterloo Tennessee. Waterloo is just north of Cookeville, Tennessee in the central east part of the state. In the summer, it is usually held in the middle of June and the fall rally is normally in September.

The first time I went to Junebug Boogie was in the summer of 2007. I rode about four and a half hours to get there. I left on a friday evening at about 6PM and arrived at the Junebug Boogie at about 11PM. Once I setup my camping gear it was just getting interesting. A huge party was already in progress and the band was playing.

Junebug Boogie is a pretty hilly terrain. Camping was plentiful, but finding a level spot can be a challenge. Getting there early is a good idea unless you want to sleep on a hill.
The burnout contest was just down the hill to the left of the stage. I went down there Saturday mid morning to check it out, and of course, in no time, could not see the motorcycles for the smoke billowing out everywhere. This was just one of the events held at Junebug Boogie.

I was pretty tired Saturday afternoon, so decided to lay down in my tent for a bit. It started raining which only helped me fall asleep. A big storm came in soon that year at Junebug Boogie with lightning and hard rains. What woke me up was the sound of the bullhorns telling people to seek cover. Being in a tent, I thought "How the heck was I going to do that?" The lightning was everywhere. There was a man actually hit by lightning that year at Junebug Boogie. I was talking to some folks that saw the incident and though ‘what a way to go’!

Walking up the midway, you can see the stage area, which is pretty big. It is an awesome stage with cages, spools, and a stripper pole on the main stage. That stripper pole gets pretty busy in the evenings at Junebug Boogie!! You can be sure that there will be women dancing in the cages too.

If you’re looking for a new trinket, or something to replace an old one, you shouldn't have a problem finding it at Junebug Boogie. There are several vendors along vendor alley with quite a selection.

I like to stop and say hi to the folks at the CMA tent. The CMA was there with free coffee, water, and inspiring words. They were setup along Vendor alley. When you want a break from adult beverages, this is a good place to stop for some free water.

Recently, there have been many more RVs arriving. Space is becoming hard to find for tent campers, so it's a good idea to get to Junebug Boogie early.

This rally has grown significantly in the last three years. There must have been at least 200,000 people at Junebug Boogie in the summer of 2009.

Some picture from past Junebug Boogie rallies are here. I will have the more 'adult' pictures available at a future date.

There are some great rides nearby. I recommend a ride to the Big South Fork National recreation area. Just head north, catch Highway 52 eastbound toward Jamestown, and then 154/297. Just follow the signs to the park. You can ride on into Kentucky if you want and loop back around. Depending on how you ride, you could be out for about 5 to six hours. The good news is that Junebug Boogie will be waiting when you get back.
